BJP gherao 'New TMC' MLA Sandipan Saha's house in Entally, protest over 'cut money'
A devastating fire broke out at the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) staff quarters in North Delhi's Adarsh Nagar in the early hours of Tuesday. The fire department received a distress call at approximately 2:39 a.m., reporting a blaze on the second floor of one of the residential buildings. Five fire tenders were immediately rushed to the spot to douse the flames, which had reportedly spread rapidly across the flat.
When the fire brigade team managed to enter the affected flat after a rigorous rescue operation, they discovered the charred remains of three family members. The deceased, Ajay (42), his wife Neelam (38), and their young daughter Janhvi (10), were unable to escape the intense smoke and heat. The local residents were jolted from their sleep as the smoke billowed from the building, creating a state of panic in the residential complex.
The rescue operation also proved hazardous for the emergency responders. A firefighter, identified as Rakesh, sustained injuries while battling the flames and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Preliminary reports suggest that while the firefighters arrived swiftly, the intensity of the fire had already engulfed the living area, leaving the family with little time to react.
