Fire breaks out at Momo outlet kitchen in Sealdah

A fire broke out at the momo outlet kitchen near Sealdah Station on Saturday, around 4 PM. The blaze began in the kitchen of the popular momo outlet, located on the southern side of the station, and quickly spread throughout the outlet. Flames engulfed the kitchen, and the fire escalated to nearby areas of the outlet, fueled by flammable materials present within the premises.

Firefighters were alerted and dispatched to the scene, with three fire engines arriving approximately 30 minutes later. Firefighting operations began immediately, and fireballs were used to contain the blaze. Despite their efforts, the fire caused significant damage to the outlet. The surrounding areas, including Sealdah Metro Station, auto and taxi stands, and BR Singh Hospital, were affected by the thick black smoke that covered the station, leading to panic among commuters and locals.

Local residents and employees of the momo outlet attempted to control the fire before the fire department arrived. Many people rushed to the area to evacuate food items and belongings from the burning outlet. Though the fire spread quickly, emergency teams were able to contain it by 4:45 PM, and no casualties have been reported. However, the full extent of the financial loss and property damage is still being assessed.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Initial reports suggest the fire may have been caused by a short circuit, though other sources indicated that the fire could have originated from a roll counter inside the momo outlet where egg rolls and chicken rolls were prepared. Fire officials have stated that further investigation is needed to confirm the exact cause of the blaze.
