A fire broke out at Shri Ram Mishtan Bhandar, a sweet shop located at 296 APC Road in Rajabazar, on Friday late evening due to a suspected short circuit. Panic spread in the area as flames engulfed parts of the shop. Local residents intervened and managed to douse the fire within 30 minutes before the arrival of two fire engines. According to shop staff, “Although two fire engines reached the spot, the fire was completely extinguished with local help before their arrival.”
There were no casualties, but the fire damaged sweets worth thousands of rupees and destroyed furniture inside the shop. Despite the shop being closed at the time, a short circuit reportedly caused the fire, raising concerns among local residents. Authorities have not yet confirmed the exact cause of the incident. The extent of structural damage is yet to be fully assessed.
