A fire broke out in a three-storey residential house in the BJ Block area of Salt Lake on Saturday afternoon, triggering panic among local residents. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident.
According to residents of the house, a washing machine was running at the time of the incident, and it is suspected that the fire may have originated from there. Four people were present inside the house when the fire erupted, but all of them managed to escape safely.
The intensity of the fire caused fear among people living in nearby houses. Upon receiving information, two fire engines rushed to the spot and firefighters worked swiftly to bring the blaze under control. Bidhannagar Mayor Krishna Chakraborty visited the site soon after the incident to assess the situation and take stock of the damage. Fire department officials said that the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained and a detailed investigation will be conducted.
