Fire breaks out in Barasat Medical College's waiting room

A fire broke out in the waiting room of Barasat Medical College at around 7 a.m. on Saturday. Smoke was seen emanating from the window of the waiting room, alerting people nearby. Hospital authorities were immediately informed and responded by notifying the Barasat Fire Station. A fire engine was quickly dispatched to the site and successfully brought the fire under control.

Initial investigations by the fire department suggested that the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit. While there was no significant structural damage, some documents and equipment within the waiting room were affected. No injuries or fatalities were reported. Hospital officials are currently assessing the full extent of the damage, with plans to review and strengthen fire safety protocols in the facility.
