A major disaster was narrowly averted on the Howrah-New Delhi main railway line when a fire broke out on the 8184 Buxar-Tata Express train. The incident occurred on Monday at approximately 12:30 pm between Jamtara and Vidyasagar stations in the Asansol division. The quick thinking and prompt action of the train driver prevented the situation from escalating into a catastrophic accident, saving the lives of the passengers on board.
The fire reportedly started in the brake bindings of the train's D5 coach, causing a large amount of smoke to billow out. Passengers, who were enjoying their journey, were suddenly gripped by fear as they noticed the smoke and started shouting for help. Their panicked cries alerted the driver to the emergency.
Reacting swiftly to the situation, the train driver applied the emergency brakes, bringing the train to a halt. This crucial action isolated the affected coach and prevented the fire from spreading further. The prompt response of the driver and the railway staff on board was instrumental in bringing the fire under control.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with many passengers disembarking from the train in a state of panic. The sight of smoke and the sudden halt of the train caused momentary confusion and fear. However, as the situation came under control and passengers realized they were safe, they heaved a collective sigh of relief.
