A fire incident occurred on Tuesday inside one of the coaches of the Secunderabad-Agartala Express train, leading to a halt at Berhampur railway station in Odisha. Passengers, fearing another electrical breakdown, refused to continue their journey in the affected coach and were asked to disembark after smoke was detected.
According to officials, the smoke was first noticed by some passengers in coach B-5, prompting them to raise an alarm. Many passengers then chose to evacuate the train as a precautionary measure.
Addressing the situation, an East Coast Railway (ECoR) official stated that a minor electrical issue had occurred in coach B-5 of the Secunderabad-Agartala Express near Brahmapur station. The onboard staff promptly attended to the matter and resolved the problem.
The incident caused a brief disruption to the train's schedule, as the necessary measures were taken to ensure the safety of the passengers. Railway authorities are investigating the cause of the fire and implementing appropriate actions to prevent such incidents in the future.
