A fire broke out at the Kathleen Building on Lord Sinha Road near Exide today, Tuesday, around 2:50 PM, triggering a swift response from both locals and emergency services. The blaze was initially addressed by locals, who then informed the fire officials and local police station.
Within minutes, the fire brigade arrived at the scene, deploying two inches of firefighting equipment. Occupants of the building, which also houses a college and a school with ongoing secondary exams, were promptly evacuated by the fire department. Fearing a potential rapid spread, firefighters worked tirelessly to bring the situation under control, successfully containing the fire by 3:20 PM.
Fortunately, no casualties have been reported thus far. Preliminary findings from the fire brigade point to a short circuit in the AC as the likely cause, with further investigations underway.
