A significant development has emerged in the investigation of the murder of Bijan Das, the deputy head of Guma 1 Panchayat in Ashoknagar, North 24 Parganas, as firearms were discovered at the residence of Palash Sharma, a suspect in the case. The weapons were found concealed within wooden husks, sparking interest among authorities. Police sources reveal that the firearms were concealed within a 100-meter radius of the murder site. Meanwhile, local residents are demanding the apprehension of the remaining family members of Palash implicated in the deputy chief's murder, leading to renewed protests and vandalism.
The situation escalated when locals once again targeted the residence of the second accused, Gautam Das, on Thursday, prompting protests and clashes with the police. Demonstrators blocked Guma Station Road through arson, resulting in the closure of shops in the area.
