Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim issued a stern ultimatum on Wednesday, declaring that civic development will not stop due to a political ego clash. He was addressing the alleged standoff between local committees surrounding the relocation of the vital underground water reservoir beneath Muhammad Ali Park.
Firhad stated that the park's reservoir would "soon be shifted to Marcus Square Park." The decades-old reservoir under Muhammad Ali Park was found to be structurally unsound, with cracks rendering it unsafe and forcing its permanent closure.
Since this reservoir is crucial for providing water to a substantial portion of central Kolkata, including areas like Bowbazar, B.B. Ganguly Street, and parts of C.R. Avenue, the KMC had to formulate an emergency multi-crore plan for its replacement.
