By-polls announced on 6 Assembly & 1 Lok Sabha seat of Bengal on Nov 13
The police have made the first arrest in the shocking murder case of Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, the prominent Rajput leader and chief of Karni Sena, who was brutally shot dead at his Jaipur residence on December 5.
The arrested individual, identified as Ramveer, is accused of aiding the shooters, Rohit and Nitin, by facilitating their escape on his bike and dropping them off at Ajmer Road. Ramveer resides in the same village as Nitin, according to police sources.
The murder, captured on CCTV cameras, triggered widespread protests across Rajasthan, with supporters of Gogamedi calling for a state-wide bandh. The BJP, newly victorious in the assembly elections, demanded an NIA investigation into the incident.
The leader's wife, Sheela Shekhawat, alleged negligence in providing security, citing prior threat alerts that were reportedly ignored. Meanwhile, two police personnel were suspended for negligence, and Gogamedi's supporters continue to demand swift justice. The situation remains tense in the state, with protests reported in various districts, including Churu, Udaipur, Alwar, and Jodhpur.
