Defence minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath flagged off the first batch of BrahMos missiles produced at BrahMos Aerospace’s new Integration and Test Facility in Lucknow on Saturday. The rollout marks a major milestone for India’s defence manufacturing sector and the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC).
The state-of-the-art facility, located in Sarojini Nagar, was inaugurated in May 2025 and houses advanced systems for missile integration, testing, and quality checks. BrahMos Aerospace confirmed that the missiles from this batch will soon be ready for deployment by the Indian armed forces.
Speaking at the event, CM Yogi Adityanath highlighted the project’s role in promoting self-reliance and employment in the defence sector. “This is the foundation of a self-reliant India. Over 2,500 acres have been made available across six nodes, providing jobs to more than 15,000 youth,” he said.
He added that the state is ready to provide additional land for defence projects and expects significant revenue growth as BrahMos production expands. With 100 missiles expected to be manufactured annually, the government projects ₹150–200 crore in annual GST revenue once capacity increases to 150 units per year.
