In a devastating road accident, five devotees lost their lives after a Bolero vehicle rammed into a tree on the Bah–Kachora Ghat road under Chitrahat police station late Thursday night. The victims were returning from the Kaila Devi Temple when the incident occurred around 11:30 PM, leaving multiple families shattered.
The deceased have been identified as Kamta Prasad (70), a former army personnel, his younger son Devendra (35), Devendra’s wife Seema (32), Rishi (20), a grandson from Auraiya district, and Aaradhya (3), daughter of Neeraj. Four others — Aditya (13), Roshni (22), Rishabh (18), and driver Avneesh from Unnao — sustained serious injuries and were rushed to hospital for treatment.
According to initial findings, the group, residents of Nagla Bar in Etawah, had travelled to the temple in two vehicles. While returning, their Bolero lost control and crashed into a roadside tree just about 200 metres from the Chitrahat police station. The impact was severe, causing extensive damage to the vehicle and trapping several passengers inside.
Local villagers rushed to the scene upon hearing the crash and broke open the vehicle’s windows to rescue those trapped. Police later arrived and shifted the injured to a hospital in Saifai, while the bodies were sent for postmortem. Preliminary investigation suggests that the driver may have dozed off, leading to the fatal accident.
