Five individuals, including IAS and IPS officers, suspended following violent restaurant brawl in Rajasthan

A brawl at a restaurant on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway in Rajasthan has led to the suspension of an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, Ajmer Development Authority Commissioner Giridhar, and an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, Sushil Kumar Bishnoi. The incident, which occurred late on Sunday night, was captured on CCTV cameras, revealing people engaged in physical altercations and hurling stones at each other.

In addition to the two officers, a constable and two other government employees have also been suspended while the Rajasthan police initiates a thorough investigation into the matter. Two police personnel have been sent to police lines as well.

According to local media reports, the individuals involved had attended a farewell party to celebrate the IPS officer's new posting. When they stopped at the restaurant to use the washroom, a dispute arose with the staff, allegedly triggered by the IPS officer slapping a restaurant employee for wearing a vest. As the restaurant staff fought back, the IPS officer reportedly left the scene.

The restaurant owner filed a complaint, alleging that the officer returned later with some colleagues and assaulted the staff. Consequently, a case has been registered against five unidentified individuals based on the owner's complaint, and the accused officers have been placed on police lines.

Rajasthan Police Chief Umesh Mishra has confirmed that the vigilance department is investigating the incident. IPS Officer Bishnoi has denied the allegations made against him, maintaining his innocence in the matter.
