Flames rip through illegal warehouse in Burrabazar | Watch Taaza TV's report

A major disaster was narrowly averted in Kolkata's congested commercial hub of Burrabazar on Sunday morning after a fierce fire ripped through reportedly an illegal commercial warehouse operating inside a heavily populated residential building. The blaze broke out inside a clothing godown located on one of the upper floors of a multi-story housing complex on the busy Rabindra Sarani stretch.

Local residents were the first to notice thick plumes of black smoke billowing out of the building's windows early in the morning and immediately raised a frantic alarm. Recognizing the high risk of the flames spreading through the tightly packed neighborhood, community members quickly notified the West Bengal Fire and Emergency Services. Dispatched fire tenders rushed to the chaotic scene through the narrow lanes of Burrabazar to commence emergency dousing operations.

Firefighters faced initial logistical hurdles due to congested approach roads but managed to deploy hose lines rapidly to contain the inferno. Thanks to their prompt intervention, the blaze was successfully brought under control before it could breach adjacent residential quarters or trap sleeping occupants. Authorities confirmed that no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident, as the warehouse was closed at the time the fire ignited.
