The 2024 Forbes list of the World’s Billionaires has seen a notable increase in Indian representation, with 200 Indians making the list, up from 169 last year. The total combined wealth of these Indian billionaires has reached a record-breaking $954 billion, showing a significant rise of 41% from last year's $675 billion. Topping the list is Mukesh Ambani, whose net worth soared to $116 billion from $83 billion, making him the first Asian to enter the $100 billion club. Mukesh Ambani retains his title as the ninth richest person globally, as well as India’s and Asia’s wealthiest individual.
Following closely behind is Gautam Adani, who secures the position of the second richest Indian on the list. Adani's wealth increased by $36.8 billion, solidifying his spot at No. 17 with a fortune of $84 billion. Savitri Jindal, India’s wealthiest woman, has climbed to the fourth spot in India, up from sixth last year, with a net worth of $33.5 billion.
The 2024 list also includes twenty-five new Indian billionaires making their debut, such as Naresh Trehan, Ramesh Kunhikannan, and Renuka Jagtiani. However, notable exclusions from this year's list are Byju Raveendran and Rohiqa Mistry. Among the prominent names on the Forbes Billionaires List 2024 are the founders of Zerodha, Nithin and Nikhil Kamath, as well as the founders of Flipkart, Sachin and Binny Bansal.
