Bengal Govt elevates IPS Ajay Mukund Ranade to DGP (Law and Order)
A notable political development has taken place in the Kalipahari area of the Asansol South Assembly constituency, where around 50 people, including the son of a former councillor, have joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. Gopal Vadyakar, son of former councillor Matish Vadyakar, formally joined the party along with members of his family and supporters, marking a shift in the local political landscape ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
Gopal Vadyakar said he had been associated with Left politics since 2006 and had long supported the ideology of the red flag. His father, Matish Vadyakar, served as a councillor for nearly a decade. However, citing a change in political outlook, he decided to switch sides and join the Bharatiya Janata Party. He stated that he was influenced by the leadership and policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which motivated him to take the step. According to him, he plans to work actively for the party in the coming days and contribute to strengthening the organisation at the grassroots level.
Gopal Vadyakar also said he formally received party membership under the leadership of Agnimita Paul, the BJP leader for the Asansol South Assembly constituency. His family is known to have strong ties with Ward No. 38, previously Ward No. 34, in the Kalipahari area. Local observers believe the collective induction could influence the political dynamics of the constituency ahead of the elections.
