Geeta Koda, the Congress MP from Singhbhum (Jharkhand) and wife of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda has switched allegiance to the BJP ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Her decision to join the BJP comes amid reported dissatisfaction with the alliances formed by the Congress party in the state, leading her to submit her resignation to the Party's high command.
Geeta Koda formally joined the BJP at the party's state office in Jharkhand, in the presence of Jharkhand BJP chief Babulal Marandi. Her departure from the Congress camp is seen as a setback for the party ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. Additionally, BJP Jharkhand president Babulal Marandi criticized the INDIA bloc, calling it an alliance of "corrupt people" and suggesting that it lacks cohesion, citing recent refusals by Mamata Banerjee and Arvind Kejriwal to ally with the Congress in other states.
