Former Mohun Bagan president Tutu Bose on ventilator after cardiac arrest

Swapan Sadhan Bose, popularly known as Tutu Bose and a former president of Mohun Bagan Super Giant, was admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata after suffering a cardiac arrest on Monday evening. Hospital sources stated that he was shifted to critical care following emergency treatment and placed on ventilator support. Doctors said he has not regained consciousness since being admitted and remains under strict medical observation.

According to hospital officials, Tutu Bose suddenly fell seriously ill on Monday evening and was immediately taken to the hospital. Medical sources stated that he suffered a massive heart attack before being admitted. Since the beginning of treatment, he has remained on ventilator support while doctors continue to monitor his condition closely in the critical care unit.

Senior political and sports personalities enquired about his health condition after news of his illness became public. Suvendu Adhikari and Sports Minister Nisith Pramanik reportedly contacted hospital authorities regarding his condition. Kalyan Chaubey, president of the All India Football Federation, also visited the hospital.

Tutu Bose had been facing health complications for a considerable period and was dependent on a wheelchair for movement in recent years. Although he had stepped away from active football administration, he continued to remain closely associated with Mohun Bagan in the eyes of supporters and football followers across Bengal. News of his illness triggered concern among sports enthusiasts and club supporters.

Tutu Bose first became secretary of Mohun Bagan in 1991 and later served as president of the club from 1995 to 2018 before returning again as secretary. During the Mohun Bagan Day celebrations on July 30, 2025, he was honoured with the “Mohun Bagan Ratna” award. At the ceremony, attended by several former footballers and sports personalities, he had expressed his emotional attachment to the club and his wish to remain associated with Mohun Bagan throughout his life.
