A 40-year-old man, son of a former Member of Parliament, was found dead inside his own library in Udaipur on Saturday morning. Police suspect it to be a case of suicide, though the investigation is currently underway to examine all possible angles.
According to police officials, students who regularly studied at the library found the man unresponsive in an inner room after he failed to respond to their calls. A piece of towel was found hanging from a ceiling hook nearby, raising suspicion of a failed hanging attempt.
The body was sent to MB Hospital for a postmortem to confirm the exact cause of death. Officers stated that no suicide note was recovered, and preliminary evidence is being closely examined. The deceased’s father had passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic, and officials are also looking into possible mental health concerns.
Local political figures who visited the family described the man as a promising and socially active individual. His contributions to educational and tribal welfare initiatives were also remembered. The police have assured a detailed and transparent investigation.
