Congress leader and ex-Lok Sabha MP Manvendra Singh, son of BJP stalwart and former Union minister, the late Jaswant Singh, was injured on Tuesday after his car met with an accident in Rajasthan's Alwar. Manvendra Singh's wife, Mrs. Chitra Singh, lost her life the accident. The accident occurred on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, also left three individuals, including Manvendra Singh, injured, along with his son Hamir who was present in the vehicle. The car was headed from Delhi to Jaipur.
Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot expressed his condolences through a post on X, saying, "The news of the demise of Mrs. Chitra Singh, wife of Manvendra Singh Jasol in a road accident is sad. I pray to God to give peace to the departed soul and courage to the family. I pray to God for the speedy recovery of Shri Manvendra Singh Jasol and other family members injured in the road accident."
Manvendra Singh, who switched from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to Congress five years ago, faced defeat in the Rajasthan Assembly elections 2023, contesting from Siwana. The son of former BJP stalwart Jaswant Singh, Manvendra made his debut in the Lok Sabha Election in 1999 from Barmer, where he lost to Congress leader Sonaram Choudhary.
