Four people, including a 12-year-old girl, were injured in indiscriminate firing by a gang of kidnappers during a robbery attempt in Shastri Nagar. The injured are undergoing treatment at IGIMS.
The incident took place on Wednesday night around 12:30 near Urja Stadium (gate number 2) in Shastri Nagar police station area when Meera Kumari, manager of Magadh Hostel located at Boring Road junction, was returning home at AG Colony with four hostel staff. They were on two-wheelers when they were chased and ambushed by three-wheeled thieves near the stadium.
The miscreants allegedly fired a pistol and tried to snatch Meera's gold chain. When the crew tried to resist, the criminals fired at them and fled the scene. After the incident, SHO Ramashanker Singh reached the spot with his team and started investigation. The injured were identified as Abhishek Kumar (22), Ashish Kumar (17), Kajal Kumari (12) and Sonu Kumar (18).
According to the police, everyone is out of danger. Abhishk and Kajal sustained bullet injuries on their thighs, while Ashish was injured in the leg and Sonu sustained a bullet injury on his right hand.
Patna SSP Manavjit Singh Dhillon said the police recovered five empty cartridges (7.65 mm) from the spot.
