Four newly elected MLAs in West Bengal will take their oaths on Tuesday, as announced by Speaker Biman Banerjee. Due to the lack of a positive response from the Raj Bhavan, Ranaghat South MLA Mukutmani Adhikari, Raiganj MLA Krishna Kalyani, Maniktala MLA Supti Pandey, and Bagdar MLA Madhuparna Thakur will be sworn in following assembly tradition. This decision comes amidst ongoing tensions between the assembly and the Raj Bhavan regarding the swearing-in of MLAs Sayantika Bandopadhyay and Reyat Hussain Sarkar.
The situation had led to concerns in political circles about potential disturbances in the swearing-in of Trinamool candidates who won in the second round of the Bengal Assembly by-elections. Despite these tensions, the state assembly session commenced on Monday, with the speaker confirming the oath-taking ceremony for the four MLAs on Tuesday.
