The district of Murshidabad was jolted by yet another bomb blast during the ongoing Panchayat elections, resulting in the loss of one life. The incident occurred on Saturday in the Beldanga area of Murshidabad, where a bomb-making operation tragically went awry, leaving three others critically injured.
According to local authorities, the explosion took place in a jute field where individuals were engaged in the dangerous task of assembling explosive devices. Tragically, one person lost their life in the blast, while three others sustained severe injuries. The injured were promptly rushed to the Beldanga Block Health Center for immediate medical attention.
Preliminary investigations suggest that ten criminals were actively involved in the illicit manufacturing of bombs in the Kapasdanga region of Beldanga. The unexpected detonation occurred during the execution of their nefarious activities, causing significant harm. The injured individuals, apart from the deceased, were yet to be located at the time of reporting.
In response to the incident, Jayanta Das, the spokesperson for Murshidabad District Congress, has made serious accusations, stating, "The deceased individual was involved in the production of explosive devices and was working for miscreants affiliated with the Trinamool Congress. There are reports of bombs being stored in the vicinity, but the police response has been passive."
Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress has vehemently denied these allegations. Apurba Sarkar, the president of the Trinamool Congress in Murshidabad district, dismissed the claims as politically motivated, asserting, "Linking Trinamool with any criminal incident is a mere political ploy. We urge the police to promptly take disciplinary action against the culprits."
This unfortunate incident follows a recent string of bomb explosions that shook the Godhanpada area in Raninagar, Murshidabad, on Friday night. Local residents have reported the involvement of rival groups, Trinamool Congress and Congress, in the manufacturing and deployment of explosive devices during clashes.
While Trinamool alleges that two of their workers/supporters were injured due to a bomb explosion, Congress maintains that their worker, Rajkumar Sekh, was chased away when he went to work in the Chinai area on Friday morning. The subsequent incident at a tea stall during the night left one Trinamool worker injured. Allegedly, this triggered retaliatory bombings by Trinamool forces, fueling the already intense political tensions prevailing in Murshidabad.
