G20 presidency: C20 Inception conference to be held in Nagpur between Mar 20-23

The inaugural C20 conference will be held in Nagpur, Maharashtra between March 20 and 23. The conference is expected to be attended by more than 200 foreign delegates from civic associations and non-governmental organizations.

Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, Vice-Chairman of Rambhau Mhalgi Probodhini and Patron of India's CIVIL20 Secretariat said on Friday that the event will aim to present the perspective of civil society, NGOs and the development sector in the G20 countries. Spiritual leader Mata Amritanandmayi is the chairman of C20 India and Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini has taken charge of the secretariat and the event to be held at the Press Club will be among several being organized at the national level.

“The launch conference will discuss the work that Civil20 has done over the past few months. A total of 14 topics have been selected and will be discussed in different sections.

The final Civil 20 meeting will be held in the last week of July, after which the policy package will be released and handed over to the G20,” he explained.

Topics include education, health, technology, environment, arts and crafts, democracy, human rights and sustainable development, he said. Speakers will include Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi, G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant, UN Resident Coordinator in India Shombi Sharp, Indonesian C20 Sherpa Ah Maftuchan, Brazil's Alessandro Nilo, Guillermina Alaniz from Argentina and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Fa Devendra.
