Kolkata’s Ward No. 142 and Ward No. 114 will now receive purified drinking water from Garden Reach following the inauguration of a booster pumping station in Ramkantapur. The station was inaugurated by Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim and State Minister Aroop Biswas. The project aims to enhance water distribution in these areas, ensuring a steady supply for residents.
The newly constructed reservoir at the pumping station has a storage capacity of 2,100 kiloliters. Water is being sourced from the Garden Reach water treatment plant, which supplies multiple areas of Kolkata. The facility is expected to address water availability in the two wards and improve distribution efficiency.
The Kolkata Municipal Corporation has been working on expanding the city’s water supply infrastructure, with similar projects planned in other wards. The new system is expected to benefit thousands of residents by ensuring a consistent supply of purified drinking water.
