Another KMC councillor, Biswajit Mondal arrested, after woman alleges molestation and threats
Fourteen former international cricket captains, including Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev, have written to the Government of Pakistan urging immediate medical care for jailed former prime minister Imran Khan. The appeal, addressed to Shehbaz Sharif, cited reports of deteriorating health of the 73-year-old former 1992 World Cup-winning captain.
The letter requests adequate treatment by specialists, humane detention conditions and regular family access. It emphasises that irrespective of political views, Khan deserves dignity as a former national leader and global sporting figure. Other signatories include Greg Chappell, Belinda Clark, Michael Atherton, Nasser Hussain, Allan Border, Clive Lloyd, Steve Waugh and John Wright.
The appeal follows growing concern within cricket circles after reports of worsening eyesight and prison conditions. Several former Pakistan cricketers had earlier called for proper healthcare, but no other former Pakistan captains signed this petition.
Khan has been in jail since August 2023 and is serving a 31-year sentence following a December 2025 verdict. The signatories described their appeal as an act of sportsmanship and humanitarian concern, asking authorities to ensure fair legal access and medical supervision.
