Lucknow’s Chhappan Bhog has created India’s largest Gujiya, measuring 25 inches and weighing 6 kilograms, ahead of Holi. Named the ‘Bahubali Gujiya’, this massive sweet has entered the India Book of Records. The record-breaking dessert was made at Phoenix Mall, Lucknow, using premium ingredients such as cashews, almonds, sewai, and saffron, and is priced between ₹20,000-₹25,000.
Kshitij Gupta, Marketing Head of Chhappan Bhog, said, “Many of the festivals all over India are being celebrated. We had Maha Kumbh this year, which is of huge significance. We try to dedicate things which are closer to the people, and hence, we have prepared this ‘Maha Kumbh’ Gujiya.” The sweet also features a pichkari-shaped design, symbolizing Holi celebrations.
Pramil Dwivedi, Executor, India Book of Records, confirmed, “This Gujiya breaks all the records. When the owner claims so, we searched and found that such a Gujiya was never prepared earlier.” This is the first recorded instance of a Gujiya of this size being made in India.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh has seen other extravagant festive sweets. In Gonda district, a gold-covered ‘Golden Gujiya’, priced at ₹50,000 per kg, was also prepared ahead of Holi. The festival is known for traditional sweets like Gujiya, malpua, and dahi vada, which are made in homes and sweet shops across the country.
