Giriraj Singh sparks controversy, says

Union Rural Development Minister Giriraj Singh has ignited a fresh controversy by urging Hindus to exclusively consume 'Jhatka meat' instead of halal, citing adherence to Sanatan Dharma norms.

Speaking at a public address in his parliamentary constituency of Begusarai in Bihar, the senior BJP leader emphasized the practice of 'bali pratha' (animal sacrifice) in Sanatana Dharma, asserting that it involves the jhatka method.

He urged Hindus not to consume halal meat but exclusively consume 'jhatka' meat, which is obtained by slaughtering animals with a single strike. BJP leader said, "I respect the Muslims who are committed to their religion. Hindus too need to understand this. 'Sanatana Dharma' has 'bali pratha' (animal sacrifice) and in 'bali pratha' there is jhatka...I'll get a jhatka meat shop opened here too."

The minister's remarks have stirred discussions on dietary preferences and cultural sensitivity.
