Girish Park family attacked by over 30 goons over property dispute; FIR filed against ex-union leader

A violent attack was reported today at 14/4 Sudhir Chatterjee Street in Ward No. 26, under Girish Park Police Station, Kolkata. The victim family alleged that a group of 30–40 people arrived at their residence and physically assaulted them. According to their statement, they had been facing threats and beatings for the past 15 days leading up to the incident.

The family, which includes Rahul Choudhury and Neha Choudhury—children of the late Kamal Kumar Choudhury—accused a woman named Kavita Gupta of orchestrating the assault. They claimed Gupta brought several men to attack the household. The family stated that Gupta was previously associated with a trade union but currently holds no position. They said the incident stemmed from an ongoing property dispute.

An FIR has been filed at Girish Park Police Station. The family said they had already won a court case related to the property and that a fresh suit is now pending in the High Court. They have sought protection from authorities and have stated they are hoping for justice.
