A Class 9 student committed suicide after a private school here refused to let her sit for an examination due to non-payment of school fees, family members claimed.
A 14-year-old girl ended her life after she was forbidden to undergo an examination. “My daughter was a ninth grade student at a local private school. Due to certain financial constraints, I could not pay her school fees,” the girl's father Ashok Kumar, a resident of Baradari, said in his complaint.
Superintendent of Police (City) Rahul Bhati said the investigation was ordered on the basis of a complaint lodged by the family members.
Kumar claimed that he took some time to submit the fees, but the school authorities allegedly did not let her daughter take the exam on Friday. He said his daughter was injured and allegedly hanged herself after returning home.
