Glider plane crashes into house in Jharkhand's Dhanbad

The pilot and passenger of a private glider were injured when it crashed into a building near Birsa Munda Park on Thursday, a police officer said.

Both the injured persons were admitted to Asarfi Hospital and doctors said their condition was serious. Barbadda Police Station Superintendent Ashish Kumar Yadav said the glider crashed into a building just after taking off from the Barbadda airstrip around 4.50 pm.

The passenger was identified as Kush Singh (14) from Patna, who had come to the Dhanbad house of his maternal uncle Pawan Singh. The boy went for a ride in a glider operated by a private agency from the Barwadda airport.

Only two people can be accommodated in the joyride glider - the pilot and the passenger. Soon after take-off, the glider crashed into the house of one Nilesh Kumar. However, no one from the building was injured.

Kumar said his two children, who were playing there, escaped only a short distance. The police officer said that the cause of the accident is not yet known.

A representative of the glider agency could not be reached.
