A major temple theft was reported at Jagorani Kali Mandir near Times of India Math in Parnasree, where a masked accused stole a large quantity of gold and silver ornaments between 1:25 AM and 2:00 AM on February 23. The theft, registered under Parnasree PS Case No. 142 dated 23.02.25 u/s 303(2) BNS, led to a detailed investigation involving extensive CCTV analysis and source networking.
During the probe, over 100 CCTV footages were examined, and information gathered led to a raid under the Howrah Police Commissionerate. Samir Halder alias Jojo (22), son of Shankar Halder from Dasnagar, Howrah, was arrested. His statement led police to Bhagbat Maity of Ramrajatala, Jagacha, Howrah, from whom the entire stolen jewellery was recovered. Authorities confirmed both individuals were arrested, and the ornaments belonging to the deity were successfully retrieved.
Further investigation is ongoing to determine if more individuals were involved. Officials continue to verify additional details related to the case. The recovered ornaments are expected to be returned following necessary legal procedures.
