A major robbery incident has triggered panic in Domjur after a gold trader was targeted by a miscreant in the Salop area on Wednesday night. The accused allegedly snatched a bag containing gold and silver jewellery worth around ₹10 lakh while the trader was locking his shop, with the entire incident captured on CCTV cameras.
According to the trader, he had placed the bag between his legs while closing the shop when the accused suddenly approached, grabbed the bag, and fled within seconds. The swift and calculated nature of the crime has raised concerns among local traders and residents, as the robbery took place in a busy area.
Police from Domjur Police Station have launched an investigation and are examining CCTV footage to identify the accused. During preliminary inquiry, officials suspect that someone familiar with the trader’s routine may be involved, as it has emerged that he regularly carried valuable jewellery home in a bag after closing his shop.
