The 83rd Golden Globe Awards, held at the Beverly Hilton in California, officially kicked off the Hollywood awards season, celebrating excellence across film, television and, for the first time, podcasts. The ceremony was hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser, who returned after her historic debut last year as the first woman to host the Globes solo.

In film categories, Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another emerged as one of the night’s biggest winners, securing four awards from nine nominations. The Leonardo DiCaprio-led film won Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, along with Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Supporting Actress for Teyana Taylor. Meanwhile, Hamnet, directed by Chloe Zhao, claimed the Best Motion Picture – Drama honour.

Acting accolades were spread across a diverse field. Jessie Buckley won Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama for Hamnet, while Wagner Moura made history as the first Brazilian to win Best Actor – Drama for The Secret Agent. In the musical or comedy categories, Timothée Chalamet triumphed for Marty Supreme and Rose Byrne won Best Actress for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You.

On television, Adolescence dominated the limited series categories, winning Best Limited Series along with acting honours for Stephen Graham, Owen Cooper and Erin Doherty. At just 16, Cooper became the youngest recipient of a Golden Globe for a supporting acting role in television. The Pitt and The Studio won Best Drama Series and Best Musical or Comedy Series respectively.

The ceremony also marked a milestone with the introduction of the Best Podcast category. Amy Poehler won the inaugural award for Good Hang With Amy Poehler, calling it an attempt to bring “love and laughter” into a difficult world. Ricky Gervais won Best Stand-Up Comedy on Television, while Sinners was recognised with the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement award.

Indian actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas featured among the presenters alongside several Hollywood stars, adding to the global presence at the event. With major wins and historic firsts, the Golden Globes 2026 set the tone for the awards season leading up to the Oscars.
