Governor Dr. CV Anand Bose has expressed his concerns regarding the recent protest staged by Abhishek Banerjee and TMC leaders outside Raj Bhavan in West Bengal. Despite the imposition of Section 144 for security reasons, the Governor has raised questions about how the protest was organized, how the stage was set up, and how thousands of TMC members gathered for five consecutive days, engaging in demonstrations and sloganeering.
In response, he has written a letter to the state Chief Secretary, H.K Dwivedi, seeking clarification on whether permission was granted for the protest, the regulations governing such protests outside Raj Bhavan, and whether any laws were violated during this event.
The BJP had previously raised concerns about the protest, arguing that Section 144 is typically enforced around Raj Bhavan, making such demonstrations unacceptable due to security risks.
The BJP alleged that the Kolkata Police, in collaboration with the Trinamool Congress, overlooked these regulations and allowed the protest to proceed, highlighting the importance of maintaining the security and integrity of Raj Bhavan and the Governor.
