Govt bus crushes biker to death on Kolkata's VIP road

A biker was critically injured after being run over by a government bus on VIP Road near Bangur Avenue around 8:15 AM on Monday. The bus, operating on the AC-37 route from Barasat to Garia, struck the biker who was travelling from Kestopur towards Ultadanga. According to police sources, the biker first collided with a cyclist, lost control, and fell to the ground. Immediately after, the government bus coming from behind ran over him.

The accident resulted in severe injuries to the biker, who was taken to the hospital in a critical condition. Police confirmed that the bus was taken into custody along with its driver. The collision occurred during the morning rush, leading to a brief disruption in traffic movement along the stretch. The exact sequence of events is under investigation, and the identity of the injured biker has not yet been released.

Lake Town Police initiated immediate action following the incident. “The biker first hit a cyclist and fell. The bus coming from behind ran over him,” said a police official.
