The Gujarat High Court, several district courts and key government offices across the state were placed on high alert on Tuesday after receiving bomb threat emails warning of RDX explosions. The threats led to immediate evacuations, suspension of court work and extensive security operations, though no explosives were found at any location.
In Ahmedabad, an email threatened to blow up the Gujarat High Court using RDX, prompting authorities to evacuate the premises. Police personnel, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad and dog squads conducted a thorough search of the building. After hours of checks, no suspicious material was recovered and normal entry was gradually restored.
Similar threat emails were received by district courts in Surat, Anand, Rajkot, Ahmedabad and Bharuch, as well as the collector offices in Gandhinagar and Bharuch. In several places, authorities were instructed to vacate the premises by lunchtime, triggering swift police action and lockdown-like security measures.
The emails, identical in language, claimed that RDX-fitted suicide bombs had been planted inside court premises and invoked alleged links with LTTE and ISKP, sharply escalating threat perception. One of the mails warned of an explosion at 1.55 pm, forcing coordinated evacuations and statewide security sweeps.
In all cases, bomb squads, dog squads, Crime Branch and SOG teams carried out exhaustive inspections, finding no explosives or suspicious objects. Police have launched an investigation to trace the origin of the emails and identify those responsible, as authorities stressed zero tolerance for threats to judicial security.
