In a major crackdown on narcotics cultivation, police seized drugs worth Rs 10.92 crore from an illegal ganja and opium farm in the Sihor area of Gujarat’s Bhavnagar district. The operation is being described as the biggest drug seizure in the history of the Sihor police station.
Acting on specific intelligence, a police team carried out a pre-dawn raid at a farm known as Marbi Dhoravali, located near Karakolia Road on the border of Sar and Sakhavadar villages. Investigators found that the remote agricultural land had been converted into a large-scale narcotics plantation, with ganja and opium crops being cultivated under the cover of regular farming activity. Police seized more than 1,100 kg of illicit substances, including green opium, dry opium and green cannabis. The sheer scale of the cultivation required officers to remain at the site until late night to complete inventory checks, sampling and panchnama procedures as mandated under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
Two brothers, Bogha Chauhan and Sanjay Chauhan, also known as Manu or Sangha, were arrested from the spot and booked under multiple sections of the NDPS Act. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Police Inspector BD Jadeja, with investigators now probing the accused’s criminal background and the wider distribution network linked to the seized drugs.
