NCP leader Baba Siddique shot multiple times and dies in Mumbai Hospital
In a concerning incident, shots were fired at the residence of an Indian-origin man in Surrey, Canada, whose father serves as the president of Lakshmi Narayan Mandir. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is actively investigating the incident that occurred in the early morning of December 27.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, though the residence sustained damage consistent with bullet holes, according to Constable Parmbir Kahlon, the Media Relations Officer for Surrey Police.
The Surrey RCMP General Investigation Unit is leading the investigation, working to determine the motive behind the incident. As of now, the identities of the perpetrators remain unknown. Importantly, the Surrey Police have not confirmed any connection between this attack and recent threats received by the Lakshmi Narayan Mandir in Surrey.
However, in the context of escalating concerns, the incident follows previous instances of Hindu temples being targeted in Canada, with hate crimes and vandalism impacting the community over the past few years.
