The Deputy Commissioner of Gurugram, Nishant Kumar Yadav, issued an advisory on Sunday urging private institutions and corporate offices to implement Work From Home (WFH) arrangements for their employees on Monday.
The advisory aims to alleviate traffic congestion caused by incessant rains and facilitate the expeditious execution of dewatering and repair work by civic agencies. Residents were also advised to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities due to the heavy rainfall.
Gurugram City witnessed significant rainfall, recording 150 mm between 6:00 am and 11:00 pm on Sunday. As a result, the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway and various parts of the city experienced severe waterlogging.
Images and videos depicting the submerged expressway and service lanes at Narsinghpur Chowk circulated widely on social media platforms.
Gurugram traffic police utilized Twitter to update commuters about the traffic situation, recommending the consideration of working from home due to waterlogging. Fortunately, major traffic congestion was not reported on the national highway and other key junctions of the city due to the holiday.
The areas most affected by the heavy rainfall included Sector-18 road, Narsinghpur, Jharsa Crossing, Sarhaul, Sector-30, 31, 38, 40, 44, 45, 47, 29, 50, Rajeev Chowk, Mahaveer Chowk, Sheetla Mata Road, Civil Lines, Golf Course Extension Road, Vatika Chowk, Subhash Chowk, and Dwarka Expressway.
