In response to a proposal from Qatari and Egyptian mediators, Hamas has put forward a three-stage ceasefire plan aimed at bringing an end to the ongoing conflict with Israel, as reported by Reuters. The proposed plan outlines a gradual halt to bombings in Gaza over four and a half months, with expectations for a comprehensive agreement to conclude the war by the end of the third phase.
According to Hamas' counterproposal, the initial phase involves the release of Israeli female hostages, men under 19, the elderly, and ill individuals, in exchange for the liberation of 1,500 Palestinian women and children from Israeli jails.
Subsequent phases include the release of remaining male hostages and the exchange of any remaining bodies and remains. The proposed ceasefire would also mark the commencement of Gaza's reconstruction, coupled with a complete withdrawal of Israeli forces.
