Harbhajan Singh stunned by MS Dhoni’s fitness at 43:

At 43, MS Dhoni continues to defy age and expectations with his remarkable fitness and dedication as he gears up for IPL 2025. Despite not playing professional cricket outside the IPL, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) legend remains in top physical condition, surprising even his former teammate Harbhajan Singh. The veteran spinner recently met Dhoni at a wedding and was left in awe of his commitment to the game.

Harbhajan revealed that he was curious about Dhoni’s training routine, given his age and the challenges of staying match-ready. Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, Harbhajan recalled their conversation: "I asked him, 'What you are doing at this age, isn't it tough?' He said, 'Yes, it's difficult, but this is the only thing I like doing. I find joy in it. I want to do it, go out and play.' As long as the hunger is there, you will be able to do it."

Dhoni's training regimen has been nothing short of intense, with the CSK skipper spending 2-3 hours batting in the nets daily in Chennai. Harbhajan emphasized that Dhoni is still one of the hardest-working players in the game, arriving first at practice and leaving last. "The more balls you play, you get that timing, flow, and sixes going. He bats 2-3 hours every day in Chennai. He is the first one to come to the ground and the last one to leave, even at this age. That's the difference."

Former cricketer Aakash Chopra also praised Dhoni’s self-awareness and clarity when it comes to his role in the T20 format. While many believe he should bat higher in the order, Dhoni has consistently sent himself lower down the lineup. Chopra explained his reasoning: "He is very honest with himself. We all keep saying he should bat higher up the order. But, in his head, he was convinced that if there are 12 overs left and I come into bat, I can't do it. You may think I would be able to hit, but the fact of the matter is I know I wouldn't be able to. He is very clear about what he can do and what he can't. That's clarity."

Beyond his batting, Dhoni’s wicketkeeping remains unparalleled, even at this stage of his career. Chopra added, "I have not seen anyone with quicker hands than MS Dhoni. If the ball goes to him, you are out 9.5 times out of 10. I don't know how he does it. The hand doesn't go back at all. He is lightning quick with gloves."

As IPL 2025 approaches, Dhoni’s discipline, fitness, and leadership continue to inspire fans and players alike. Whether it’s his relentless training routine or sharp cricketing acumen, he remains a dominant force in the league, proving that age is just a number when passion and hard work fuel the game.
