Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini accused Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of corruption, stating that "his place is in Tihar jail." Saini’s remarks were made during a public rally ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections scheduled for February 5. He alleged that Kejriwal had "tarnished" Haryana, the state where he was born.
Saini's attack came after Kejriwal accused the BJP-led Haryana government of poisoning Delhi’s Yamuna water supply with ammonia. Kejriwal initially claimed that the ammonia level in the water coming from Haryana had risen to 7 ppm but later stated it had decreased to 2 ppm. The Haryana government denied the allegations, stating that the water quality met safety standards and that any increase in ammonia levels was due to existing pollution in the Yamuna.
Speaking at a rally in Delhi’s Mundka, Saini said, "Aam Aadmi Party’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal has opened up a shop of lies, which will promptly be locked by the people of Delhi on February 8." He further stated that Kejriwal was misleading the public for political gain. He also referred to Kejriwal’s previous arrest in the Delhi excise policy case, in which multiple AAP leaders were investigated.
Saini posted a video on X, saying, "The 'bhrashtachari' (corrupt) Arvind Kejriwal has betrayed the people of Delhi. After February 5, he will be sent to Tihar jail." Kejriwal was arrested in 2023 in connection with the alleged excise policy scam and was jailed for several months before being released on bail. He has denied all charges, calling the case politically motivated.
