HC permits Abhishek Banerjee's gathering at Shaheed Minar with conditions

The Calcutta High Court has granted conditional permission to a meeting organized by the Trinamool Congress Youth and Students' Organization at Shaheed Minar, which is to be attended by Abhishek Banerjee, the National General Secretary of Trinamool Congress. The court has instructed that sensitive areas should be covered with CCTV and adequate police security should be provided to avoid any disturbances during the gathering. The order was issued in response to a petition filed by the state government employees protesting for the demand of DA.

Justice Rajasekhar Mantha of the Calcutta High Court has also directed the police commissioner to ensure that two programs are not held at the same place in the future, and that traffic is not disrupted in the area. The court has expressed hope that the Trinamool Congress Youth and Students' Organization will not promote unrest during the meeting, warning that any provocative speeches will not be tolerated. The court has also instructed that the program must be completed peacefully, and the meeting place must be cleaned and peace maintained by all parties. The barricades around the meeting place will be removed after the meeting.

The court has imposed several conditions regarding the meeting, including the use of bamboo and tin barricades surrounding the place of the Sangrami Joint Forum, which will prevent anyone from entering the area. The responsibility for maintaining law and order lies with the state, and the police have the power to control any disturbances that may arise during the event.

The judge questioned whether the meeting could be held somewhere else and urged the need for preventive measures to avoid unnecessary problems. However, he allowed the Trinamool Congress Youth and Students' Organization to hold the meeting 110 meters away from the original stage. The counsel for the state government acknowledged that incidents of violence have occurred in different political eras, but expressed trust in the police to maintain peace during the meeting.

Overall, the Calcutta High Court has granted conditional permission for the meeting to take place, provided that all parties involved follow the court's instructions and maintain peace and order during and after the event.
