The people of West Bengal have been experiencing a relatively comfortable March due to regular rains. However, the beginning of April has brought with it scorching heat, causing distress among the residents.
The Alipore Meteorological Department has predicted a rise in mercury from April 8th, with strong thunderstorms on the forecast. The next three days may see an increase of 2 to 4 degrees in the temperature, and the heat is expected to surge further in South Bengal, including Kolkata.
The maximum temperature in Kolkata is expected to touch 40 degrees next week, with the possibility of heat wave conditions in some western districts.
Despite the waiting for rain like chatak birds, the Meteorological Department has said there is currently no possibility of rain in the state. The restlessness is likely to continue until Bengali New Year, Poila Baisakh.
