Heatwave 'Red Alert' issued for Lucknow and other UP regions until June 14

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a 'Red Alert' for heatwave conditions in Lucknow and other parts of Uttar Pradesh until June 14. Despite initial hopes for rain, residents must endure the heat for another week, as monsoons are expected to arrive around June 20, according to Meteorological Authorities.

Prayagraj has been the hottest city in the country for the third consecutive day, with temperatures soaring to 46.3°C, which is 6.3 degrees above normal. This also marks the 10th consecutive day where a city in Uttar Pradesh has been the hottest spot in India.

Other cities are also experiencing extreme temperatures, with Varanasi reaching 45.3°C and Kanpur at 45.2°C. In Lucknow, Monday's temperature hit 43.8°C during the day and 26.2°C at night. The forecast for Lucknow predicts clear skies and brisk surface winds (20-30 kmph), with maximum temperatures around 45°C and minimum temperatures at 28°C.

The IMD advises residents to stay cool and hydrated during this intense heatwave.
