West Bengal is expected to experience heavy rainfall and strong winds until May 26, with varying intensity across different districts. Kolkata and all districts of South Bengal are likely to see light to moderate rainfall accompanied by partly cloudy skies. The temperature in South Bengal is predicted to remain stable over the next five days with no significant changes.
Several districts in South Bengal, including Paschim Medinipur, Jhargram, Purulia, Bankura, Paschim Bardhaman, Birbhum, Murshidabad, and Nadia, have been issued a yellow alert due to the possibility of strong winds blowing at speeds of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour. In North Bengal, Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri districts are under an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall along with strong winds. Other North Bengal districts such as Kalimpong, Alipurduar, Cooch Behar, Uttar Dinajpur, and Dakshin Dinajpur are expected to receive between 70 and 110 millimeters of rainfall.
Strong winds with speeds ranging from 50 to 60 kilometers per hour are forecasted for Uttar Dinajpur, Dakshin Dinajpur, and Malda, which have also been placed under orange alerts. The remaining northern districts have been issued a yellow alert. Thunderstorms are expected in South Bengal with light to moderate rain continuing until May 26. On May 21 and 22, all districts in South Bengal have a yellow warning for strong winds.
