Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
Heavy snowfall across the Kashmir Valley on Friday brought air traffic to a complete halt, with Srinagar airport cancelling all arrivals and departures for the day due to unsafe runway conditions. Authorities said continuous snowfall and poor weather forecasts prompted the decision in the interest of passenger safety.
Airport officials confirmed that snow clearance operations are underway, but warned that normalisation of flight services may take longer than expected. Passengers have been advised to remain in touch with their respective airlines for updates and rebooking information as weather conditions continue to remain adverse.
Major airlines operating in Srinagar issued advisories, alerting travellers to prolonged delays and cancellations. Airlines said boarding and ground processes may be adjusted depending on weather clearance, while ground teams remain on standby to assist stranded passengers.
The snowfall also disrupted road connectivity across the Valley. Traffic was suspended on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway near the Navyug Tunnel due to slippery conditions, while the Mughal Road, Sinthan Road and several other mountain routes were closed following heavy snow accumulation.
Authorities ordered the closure of schools in districts such as Rajouri and Poonch as a precautionary measure. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department has forecast continued light to moderate snowfall and rain across Jammu and Kashmir, with heavy precipitation likely at isolated locations over the next few days.
