Hemant Soren announces ₹2 lakh farm loan waiver to strengthen farmers

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren reaffirmed his government’s commitment to supporting farmers, with a key focus on improving their financial stability. Speaking at the Divisional Level Cooperative Mahasammelan in Ranchi, Soren emphasized that the state government has decided to waive agricultural loans of up to ₹2 lakh to assist rural farmers. He highlighted the importance of rural development, noting that when villages thrive, the state prospers.

In the last four years, several government schemes have been implemented to uplift marginalized communities, including farmers, women, and tribal groups. Soren stressed that these initiatives aim to combat the challenges farmers face, such as ineffective national policies and climate change, which have forced many farmers into labor.

The state is now prioritizing alternative farming practices, like animal husbandry and fish farming, to provide more sustainable income options. Soren also introduced 236 mobile veterinary hospital vehicles and assured that animals provided for agricultural purposes would be insured to safeguard farmers' investments.
